Notes

  • FileCabinet CS provides a secure storage location for your clients’ electronic documents.
  • The following Microsoft Office applications are available through Virtual Client Office: Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word.

Follow these steps to give a NetClient CS user access to hosted Client Bookkeeping Solution, FileCabinet CS, and/or Microsoft Office applications.

Note: If your firm licenses Accounting CS through Virtual Office CS or Software as a Service (SaaS), you can give your clients access to Accounting CS Client Access through Virtual Client Office.

  1. In the Admin tab of the navigation pane, click the Users link in the NetClient CS section.

Note: If you don’t see this link, you don’t have access to this area.

  2. In the Users list, enter any part of the user’s name or login in the Find field to locate the user and click the user’s name. The information for the user displays on the right.

Note: Delete the entry from the Find field to view the full list of users.

  3. Click the Enable button for Virtual Client Office (CS).
  4. In the Product pane, mark the checkboxes for the applications the user needs to access.
  5. In the Data Location pane, select the appropriate option.

If you need to change a NetClient CS user’s data location (Private, Client, or Profile), you must back up the client’s FileCabinet CS and/or Microsoft Office application data, change the data location, and then restore the data into FileCabinet CS and/or the Microsoft Office application. Learn about situations in which you would need to move data to a different location.

Note: If the client has access to hosted CBS, only the Client option is available in the Data Locations pane.

    • Private. Click this option if the client will not share FileCabinet CS and/or Microsoft Office application data with any other NetClient CS users or profiles.

Note: This option is not available if the client has access to hosted CBS.

    • Client. Click this option if the client will access the same FileCabinet CS and/or Microsoft Office application data as a hosted CBS user. Then, in the Client pane, mark the checkboxes for the client companies for which this user needs to access data. (If this client will have access only to hosted CBS, you must still mark the checkboxes for the client companies for which this user needs to access data.)
    • Profile. Click this option if the client will share FileCabinet CS and/or Microsoft Office application data with other NetClient CS users. In the Profile pane, mark the checkbox for the appropriate profile. (To add a profile, click the Add Profile button, enter a name for the profile, and click Create.)

Note: This option is not available if the client has access to hosted CBS.

  6. Click Enter.
