Migrating PPC SMART Practice Aids, PPC SMART Firm Library, and PPC SMART Single Audit data to Virtual Office CS or SaaS

Complete the following multi-part procedure to move PPC SMART Practice Aids, PPC SMART Firm Library, and PPC SMART Single Audit data from a local or network drive to Virtual Office CS or SaaS.

Part 1: Back up data from the local installations of PPC SMART applications

  1. Create a folder on your local drive and name the folder SMARTtransfer.
  2. Open the PPC SMART application and choose Tools > Transfer Engagement.
  3. In the Transfer Engagement Wizard, select the database and client name for the engagement.
  4. Select the name of the engagement that you want to transfer.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Enter a name for the engagement transfer file.
  7. Optional: To transfer a read-only engagement that staff members will not be able to edit, mark the Read-Only checkbox.
  8. Click the Browse button and navigate to C:\SMARTtransfer.
  9. Click Finish.
  10. Repeat steps 2 - 9 to create transfer files for other PPC SMART applications.

Part 2: Restore data into the Virtual Office CS or SaaS installations of PPC SMART applications

  1. Click the Applications link in the NetStaff CS tab of the navigation pane.

    Note: If you don't see this link, you don't have access to applications through Virtual Office CS or SaaS.

  2. In the Virtual Office CS screen, click the icon for the PPC SMART application into which you will restore data.
  3. Choose Tools > Receive Engagement.
  4. Click the Browse button, navigate to the SMARTtransfer folder on your local C:\ drive, and select the transfer file for this PPC SMART application.

    Note: In the Virtual Office CS or SaaS environment, C$ on Client (V:) is your local C:\ drive.

  5. Mark the Open engagement when receive process is complete checkbox to view the engagement in the PPC SMART application when the receive process is complete.
  6. Click Receive.
  7. When the receive process is complete, the PPC application asks if you want to delete the transfer file. In most cases, you will not need the transfer file after the engagement is successfully received. Click Yes to delete the transfer file or click No to retain the transfer file on your computer.
