OnBalance integration with 2017 UltraTax CS is available with UltraTax CS version 17.2.2. 

To import Schedule C information from OnBalance into your 1040 client, choose Utilities > OnBalance import.

Notes

  • All connected clients will be listed in the Import from OnBalance dialog. If your client is not listed, click the Email Invitation button to send them an email (which is delivered from OnBalance). Once that email is received and accepted, your client will appear in this dialog.
  • Only Schedule C information can be imported. Farms, rentals, etc. cannot be imported.

The i7dxname.dat license file must be present in order to see the OnBalance import option from the Utilities menu in UltraTax CS. You can create the file by completing the following steps. 

  1. Browse to X:\WinCSI\LICENSES\UT17, where X is the mapped drive or network location where UltraTax CS is installed. 
  2. Right-click and choose New > Text Document. 
  3. This will create a file New Text Document.txt. Right-click that and choose Rename. 
  4. Change the name to i7dxname.dat. Make sure to delete the .txt from the end of the name.
  5. Click Yes if you receive the prompt "If you change a file name extension, the file might become unusable. Are you sure you want to change it?".
