Use the Print Reports dialog to print or preview standard reports, custom reports, client letters, and graphs from Planner CS. You can also send copies of these documents to FileCabinet CS or Onvio Documentsif you are licensed for them.

To open this dialog, choose File > Print Reports or click the Print Reports Print Reports button button on the toolbar. A plan must be open in order to open this dialog.

Destination group box

This checkbox displays your computer's default printer or the printer you selected using the Printer button. The checkbox must be marked in order to print or preview the report or form.

Click this button to open the Print Setup dialog, which you use to select a printer and set options such as the print orientation, paper source, and printer properties.

This checkbox is only available if you are licensed for FileCabinet CS and have it installed. Mark the FileCabinet CS checkbox to store a copy of the report or form in FileCabinet CS. If you mark only this checkbox and not the Printer checkbox, the Print button at the bottom of this dialog becomes the To Cabinet button. Click this button to print the report or form to FileCabinet CS.

Mark this checkbox to upload the report or form to Onvio Documents. Once you click Print, your documents will upload to the applicable client folder in the Client Documents tab.

When the FileCabinet CS checkbox is marked, use this field to specify the folder year to which plan data is printed in FileCabinet CS.

Mark this checkbox to create a PDF file of plan reports, graphs, .DOC client letters, and IRS forms 1040-ES and W-4. Browse for the location where you want to save the PDF, and click OK. You can view PDFs with Adobe Acrobat version 4.0 or higher.

Notes

  • You cannot print a client letter saved as .RTF (Rich Text Format) to PDF.
  • Client letters in Microsoft Word are created as separate PDFs from reports.

Reports group box

Click this option to have Planner CS automatically select which reports to print based on the print conditions set for the assigned preparer.

Click this option to create a report that summarizes a client's federal income tax plan, including income, deductions, taxes, payments, and more. When this report is generated, Planner CS also generates a summary report for each state attached to the plan.

Notes

  • When this report is selected, the <Tax Projection> layout is automatically selected for optimal printing. However, you can select a different layout if you do not want to use the <Tax Projection> layout.
  • For a TCJA Comparison Plan, the Tax Projection report option is selected by default; you can choose a different option, if preferred.

Click this option and select a report set to print from the drop-down list.

This option is available after you have printed the open plan at least one time. Click this option to select the same reports, graphs, letters, and alternatives/years to print as the last time this plan was printed.

To modify the selection, click the Print Selection button.

Click this button to open the Print Selection dialog, in which you can view or change which reports, graphs, and letters are selected to print.

Presentation group box

Select a report layout from the drop-down list. The layout you select determines the appearance of the printed report.

Note: When the Tax Projection report option is selected, the <Tax Projection> layout is automatically selected for optimal printing. However, you can select a different layout if you do not want to use the <Tax Projection> layout.

Alternatives/Years to print group box

Note: The option you select applies to all reports and graphs currently selected to print.

Mark this option to print all years and/or alternatives in the plan, even those you chose to hide in the main data-entry window.

Mark this option to print only the alternatives and/or years displayed in the main data-entry window, ignoring those years and/or alternatives you chose to hide.

Tip: To hide/unhide an alternative or year in the main data-entry window, choose View > Hide/Rearrange.

Mark this option and then click the Select columns button to select the alternatives and years you want to print.

When the Custom option is selected, click this button to open the Custom Alternatives/Years to Print dialog where you can select which alternatives and years to print.

Options group box

Enter the number of copies of the plan or report that you want to print in this field, or use the arrows to choose the number of copies.

Mark this checkbox if you want the copies of the plan to print on both sides of a page.

Note: To duplex print a plan, your selected printer must have duplex printing capabilities and be set up to do so.

Mark this checkbox if you want multiple copies of the plan to be sorted when printing so that one copy of the report prints in its entirety before the second copy begins printing.

Other fields & buttons

Click this button to preview the report or form before you print it.

Note: This button is only available if the Printer checkbox is marked.

Click this button to print the report or form. If the Printer checkbox is not marked and the FileCabinet CS checkbox is marked, this button becomes the To Cabinet button. Click this button to store the report in FileCabinet CS.
