Adding alternatives

Show expandable text

To add alternatives to the open plan, perform the following steps.

  1. Choose Edit > Plan Alternatives > Add to open the Add Alternative(s) dialog.
  2. In the #Alternative(s) to add field, enter the number of alternatives you want to add or select the number using the arrows.
  3. To copy data from an existing alternative to the new alternative(s), select the alternative to copy from the Copy data from alternative field. If you do not want to copy data from an existing alternative, select None.
  4. Enter a name for the new alternative in the Alternative title field.

    Notes

    • If you do not enter a name, Planner CS automatically assigns the new alternative the name "Alt" followed by the next sequential alternative number. For example, if you already have two alternatives and you are adding another alternative, the third alternative is automatically labeled "Alt 3." However, you can rename the new alternative at any time. See Renaming an alternative for more information.
    • If you chose to add more than one alternative, the Alternative title field is not available. Each new alternative is automatically assigned a name (and can be renamed) as described above.
  5. Click OK to close the dialog. The new alternative(s) are added to the main data-entry window of the open plan.

Note: You cannot add alternatives to (or delete alternatives from) an annualized plan, an S Corp Comparison plan, or a TCJA Comparison Plan.
