Practice CS: Expired license message for Project, Staff, or Client Management module

Show expandable text

When you renew your Practice CS license, you may decide not to renew one of the add-on modules: Project Management, Client Management, or Staff Management. A short while afterwards you may start receiving a message that the license for the module you did not renew is expired. You receive this message each time you log into Practice CS.

The reason you are receiving this license expiration message is because, when you downloaded your new licenses, a license file for the module you did not renew was not included. However, the license installation process, does not delete the license file for the module you did not renew and so it expires and you receive the resulting message.

To resolve this issue, you must delete the license file for Practice CS add on module you did not renew.

  1. Go to X:\WinCSI\Licenses (where X is the drive letter where your Practice CS Shared files are installed).
  2. In the Licenses folder, find the license file corresponding to the module for which you are receiving the expiration message:
    • PRPMNAME.DAT for Project Management
    • PRCMNAME.DAT for Client Management
    • PRSMNAME.DAT for Staff management
  3. Delete that license file by right-clicking on it and choosing Delete from the context menu.

Important! Be sure you are deleting the correct file. Many of the license files in the Licenses folder look similar and it is easy to select the wrong file which will affect the functioning of other areas of Practice CS or other CS applications.

  4. Go to X:\WinCSI\Tools\PracticeCSLic\LICENSES (where X is the drive letter where your Practice CS Shared files are installed).
  5. In the Licenses folder, find the license file corresponding to the module for which you are receiving the expiration message:
    • PRPMNAME.DAT for Project Management
    • PRCMNAME.DAT for Client Management
    • PRSMNAME.DAT for Staff management
  6. Delete that license file by right-clicking on it and choosing Delete from the context menu.
