If your firm is not utilizing Microsoft Outlook, various error messages may be generated while using Practice CS. To resolve errors associated with Practice CS and Outlook Integration, you may disable the Microsoft Outlook interface in Practice CS.

To disable Outlook integration with Practice CS in Virtual Office/SaaS, contact Practice CS Support at (800) 968-0600. The change may take 24-48 business hours. Outlook can only be disabled firm-wide for Virtual Office/SaaS versions of Practice CS.

For non Virtual Office/SaaS installations of Practice CS, see the steps below.

Warning: Thomson Reuters recommends a qualified technician make the below changes to the specified windows systems files.

Firm-wide

To disable Outlook on a network level (all workstations), make the following changes:

  1. In Windows Explorer, browse to X:\WinCSI\Practice CS (X represents the drive letter for the server where the  Practice CS Shared files are installed).
  2. Right click on the Networkinstallation.ini file and choose open with... \Notepad.
  3. In the notepad file, add a new line under the [appSettings] section with this information: outlookdisable=true.
  4. Click File > Save.
  5. Close Notepad.
  6. Restart Practice CS.

Workstation-specific

To disable Outlook integration on a workstation level, make the following changes:

  1. Close Practice CS on the workstation.
  2. In Windows Explorer, browse to C:\ProgramData\Creative Solutions\Practice CS.

The ProgramData folder is a hidden folder. If you do not see it, enable the option in Windows to display hidden files and folders or press the Windows key (between CTRL and ALT) + R and copy C:\ProgramData\Creative Solutions\Practice CS into the Run window, then click OK.

  3. Right click on the LocalInstallation.ini file and select Open with... \ Notepad.
  4. In the notepad file, add a new line under the [appSettings] section with this information: outlookdisable=true.
  5. Click File > Save.
  6. Restart Practice CS.

Re-enable Microsoft Outlook integration

To re-enable Microsoft Outlook integration, delete the outlookdisable=true line from the LocalInstallation.ini file and/or the NetworkInstallation.ini file, depending on whether it was disabled firm-wide or on a workstation-by-workstation basis. See the instructions above for steps on browsing to and editing those files.
