MFA required for electronic filing

Effective May 3rd, the 2017 version of UltraTax CS requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access the electronic filing transmission feature in CS Connect.

Thomson Reuters is committed to proactively evolving our security features to help you protect your firm and your clients' data. For more information about multi-factor authentication, see Multi-factor authentication overview.

Form 8955-SSA can be electronically filed with Form 5500 or it can be electronically filed separately. When filing both Form 5500 and Form 8955-SSA, a separate electronic file is created for each form.

Note that Form 8955-SSA is sent to the IRS (not the Department of Labor). There is no signature requirement to electronically file Form 8955-SSA. Therefore, no additional data entry is required for Form 8955-SSA on Screen ELF when filed without Form 5500.

Form 8955-SSA can be suppressed by marking Suppress the creation of: Form 8955-SSA electronic file on Screen ELF in the Electronic Filing folder.

To create the electronic file, refer to Preparing 5500 electronic returns.

Note: The IRS may take up to three weeks to issue the acceptance for Form 8955-SSA.
