Why are the amounts from the domestic production activity included in Schedule K, line 12d, Other deductions?

Per the Form 1120S instructions, the amounts that are reported in codes P (Domestic production activities information), Q (Qualified production activities information), and R (Employer's W-2 wages) are included in other deductions on the Schedule K. However, the instructions for line 18 state "To the extent the corporation has an amount on line 12d for code P, Q, or R, exclude the amount(s) from line 18."

If you do not want the domestic production activity amounts included in Schedule K, line 12d, enter X in the Exclude domestic production activity amounts from Schedule K, Other deductions field in Screen 8903S. UltraTax CS still prints the statement for the domestic production activity information for Schedule K, line 12d, but the total amount is not reflected on the face field for line 12d, Other deductions.
