Change to CS Support service hours

Our Support department is closed on [[date]]. However, limited UltraTax CS phone support is available on that date from 9 AM - 5 PM ET due to the approaching deadline.

Links to our most popular tax processing topics are available in the Alerts and notices section on the right side of most pages.

You can use the Practitioner PIN method for all clients, rather than using the Self-Select PIN method for each individual client. The Practitioner PIN method allows the Electronic Return Originator (ERO) to electronically file tax returns without submitting the client's date of birth, prior-year AGI, or prior-year PIN to the IRS.

To use the practitioner PIN method for all clients, follow these steps.

  1. Choose Setup > Office Configuration to open the Office Configuration dialog.

Note: Depending on your security configuration, you might be prompted to enter the master password before you can open the Office Configuration dialog. The master password is specified in Setup > Security.

  2. Click the E-Filing tab.
  3. Click the ERO button.
  4. Mark the Practitioner PIN Program filer checkbox.

Note: The Practitioner PIN is not available for electronically filed Form 2350 extensions. Any PIN data entry for these electronic extensions must follow the Self-Select PIN procedures and requirements.

  5. Click Done to close the Electronic Return Originator (ERO) dialog.

Notes

  1. When you use the Practitioner PIN method, you must complete Screen PIN, except the Prior year AGI and Prior year taxpayer / spouse PIN fields. Also, you do not have to complete the Date of birth field in Screen 1040 in the General folder.
  2. To use the Self-Select PIN method for a client when the Practitioner PIN method has been selected for all clients, mark the Self-Select PIN checkbox in the Other Personal Identification Number (PIN) Options section in Screen PIN in the Electronic Filing folder.
  3. When the ERO selects the Practitioner PIN method, the ERO is responsible for verifying the identity of the taxpayer and spouse.
