MFA required for electronic filing

Effective May 3rd, the 2017 version of UltraTax CS requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access the electronic filing transmission feature in CS Connect.

Thomson Reuters is committed to proactively evolving our security features to help you protect your firm and your clients' data. For more information about multi-factor authentication, see Multi-factor authentication overview.

Any Indiana return that is filed electronically must be signed by the taxpayer (and spouse) with a PIN. The return must also include the ERO’s PIN signature. Returns without the proper PIN data may not be filed electronically. Enter PIN information on federal Screen PIN.

Form IT-8879, the Electronic Filing Declaration signature document, follows federal Form 8879. This form is required when using the Practitioner PIN method. The form is also required under the Self-Select PIN method when the taxpayer authorizes the practitioner to enter the taxpayer’s PIN signature on the electronically filed return.

Form IT-8879 is not required under the Self-Select PIN method when the taxpayer and spouse enter their own PIN signatures on the electronic return.
