Use this tab to configure new client options, set other options related to the Business Organizer, and configure the Business Organizer presentation. From this dialog, you can also open windows and dialogs in which you can modify or create new cover letters and email greetings, questionnaires, and custom paragraphs.

To open this tab, choose Setup > [Entity], then click the Organizer tab.

Notes

  • Depending on your security configuration, you might be prompted to enter the master password before you can open the tab for a specific entity type.
  • Using the Electronic Organizer feature, you can send electronic organizers to your clients via email or provide web organizers to your clients via a personalized, private web portal.
  • For clients whose data was converted from another tax application, the options set in the New client options group box are applied the first time you open the client in UltraTax CS.

Fields & buttons

New client options group box

Choose (no default), Paper, Email (PDF), File (PDF), Web, or None from the drop-down list to specify the delivery method. The selected method is displayed in the client's Organizer Delivery column in the Setup > Client Communications dialog.

Notes

  • This option applies to all 1120, 1065, 1041, and 990 clients subsequently added to UltraTax CS.
  • The delivery method specified in this field will be applied to all clients whose data was converted from another application. To assign a different delivery method to a batch of clients, choose Utilities > Reassign Clients.
  • To set this option on a client-by-client basis, or to override this option for a client, choose an option from the drop-down list in the client's Organizer Delivery column in the Setup > Client Communications dialog.
  • Clients with None selected as a method in the Organizer Delivery column are not displayed in the Select Clients to Print dialog when printing organizers.

Choose Questionnaire only, Spreadsheet only, or Questionnaire and Spreadsheet from the drop-down list to specify the detail to include in the Business Organizer. The spreadsheet is an Excel file created by UltraTax CS when emailing the Business Organizer to your client, or sending the Business Organizer to your client through NetClient CS. Note that the Questionnaire and Spreadsheet option is selected by default.

Click this button to open the Spreadsheet Options dialog, which you can use to modify the display conditions of the various tabs included in the 1120 Excel spreadsheet.

As part of the Business Organizer, UltraTax CS generates an Excel spreadsheet for entity-specific information. Clear a checkbox to exclude specific information from the spreadsheet. If none of the checkboxes are marked, UltraTax CS will not generate the Excel spreadsheet.

  • 1065
    • Partner information checkbox: Displays partner information (such as the partners' names, SSN/EINs, addresses, etc.) from the Partner Information window in Partner Data Entry.
    • Changes of ownership checkbox: Displays a template for entering changes in partners' ownership.
  • 1041
    • Beneficiary information checkbox: Displays the name, address, and email address for each beneficiary included in View > Beneficiary Information.
    • Income sources checkbox: Lists the payers and types of income included in the prior-year return, such as mutual funds and pass-through entities.
    • Rental income checkbox: Lists the income and expenses from prior-year rental activities.
  • 990
    • Officers checkbox: Displays the name, and address, and email address for each officer included in View > Contributor/Officer > Officer Information.
    • Contributors checkbox: Displays the name and address for each contributor included in View > Contributor/Officer > Contributor Information.

  • The checkboxes you mark will be applied to all clients whose data was converted from another application.
  • To set these options on a client-by-client basis, or to override options for a client, clear the applicable fields in Screen OrgOptns.

Other return options group box

UltraTax CS automatically proformas the Custom Organizer Cover Letter number and the Custom Organizer Questionnaire number fields in screen OrgOptns. If you prefer not to proforma the custom Cover Letter number and the custom Questionnaire number, clear this field prior to proforma processing.

Enter the due date for clients to complete their Business Organizer and return it to your office. UltraTax CS includes this date on the Business Organizer Cover Letter if the Organizer due date custom paragraph is selected for the client.

Note: To enter a date on a client-by-client basis, or to override the date entered here for a client, enter a date in the Due date to return completed Organizer field in Screen OrgOptns, located in the Organizer folder.

Web Organizer options group box

Mark this checkbox to include the cover letter text in the Web Business Organizer greeting. If this checkbox is not marked, the greeting contains only the information necessary for the client to log in to their Web Business Organizer in NetClient CS. The NetClient CS portal contains a document that includes all cover letter text, similar to paper Business Organizers.

Mark this checkbox to prevent clients from submitting multiple versions of the same Web Business Organizer by allowing clients to click the Send to Preparer button only once. Any subsequent changes to the Business Organizer can then be submitted directly to your office, rather than resubmitted in a subsequent Web Business Organizer.

Documents group box

Click this button to open the Letters & Emails dialog, from which you can open the Document Editing window. In the Letters tab, you can add up to five new cover letters, or edit the cover letters provided with this application. In the Email tab, you can modify the default electronic email and NetClient CS Organizer greetings.

Click this button to open the Organizer Questionnaire dialog, which you can use to add new organizer questionnaires or modify the default questionnaire(s) included with UltraTax CS Business Organizer.

Click this button to open the Slipsheets dialog from which you can open the Document Editing window. In this window, you can edit the slipsheets provided with this application.

Collation group box

Click this button to open the Return Collation dialog in which you can change the default print collations for the Business Organizer package.

Notes

  • You can override the collation set in the Return Collation dialog on a client-by-client basis by choosing File > Print Organizers, and then clicking the Options button.
  • The Organizer tab only appears if you select an applicable entity from the Setup menu.
