UltraTax CS integrates with other CS Professional Suite applications, with non-CS Professional Suite applications from Thomson Reuters, and with many third-party applications. Click any of the following links to view detailed information about specific applications.

For integration to work properly, you must specify the correct data paths in UltraTax CS.

Note: Data sharing, which is one method by which applications integrate, enables quick and easy setup of client information within your CS Professional Suite application.

  • Data sharing works within UltraTax CS to enter new employee or client data automatically using data from another employee or client with a matching Social Security number (SSN) or employer identification number (EIN).
  • Data sharing can also transfer data between the following CS Professional Suite applications: Accounting CS, Workpapers CS, Creative Solutions Accounting (CSA), Practice CS, FileCabinet CS, and Fixed Assets CS.

CS Professional Suite applications that integrate with UltraTax CS

Thomson Reuters offers a suite of applications that are designed to work together to make your firm's workflow as efficient as possible. This section describes how various CS Professional Suite applications integrate with UltraTax CS. If you are unfamiliar with some of these applications or would like more information on any of the applications in the suite, please visit the Products page of our website.

If you are licensed for Accounting CS, you can import general ledger balances from Accounting CS into UltraTax CS. First, you must assign or correct tax codes in your Accounting CS Client database. Then, you can use the Import form Accounting CS dialog to transfer the balances into UltraTax CS.

If you are licensed for CSA, you can:

If you are licensed for both Fixed Assets CS and UltraTax CS, you can access data for Fixed Assets CS clients in the UltraTax CS asset module, and vice versa, provided that the client IDs are identical in both applications.

If you are licensed for NetClient CS, you can deliver your client's tax returns to them via a NetClient CS portal.

If you are licensed for NetClient CS and an UltraTax CS Client Organizer application, you can deliver a web client organizer to your client via a NetClient CS portal. For information about the 1040 and business client organizer applications, choose Help > Help & How-To Center, then search on Client Organizer.

If you are licensed for Planner CS, you can create plans for your UltraTax/1040 clients by exporting 1040 client data into Planner CS.

Note: The Planner CS export feature is not enabled in the initial releases for a given tax year, but are available by installing the UltraTax/1040 and Planner CS updates that are typically released in February.

If you are licensed for Practice CS, you can:

If you are licensed for ToolBox CS, you can send a list of all UltraTax CS clients to ToolBox CS, and import the list into ToolBox CS to update your client database. The list includes the UltraTax CS client ID, SSN/EIN, name, and address for each client.

If you are licensed for Workpapers CS, you can import general ledger balances from Workpapers CS into UltraTax CS. First, you must assign or correct tax codes in your WorkPapers CS Client database. Then, you can use the Import form Workpapers CS dialog to transfer the balances into UltraTax CS.

If you use AdvanceFlow, you can import Engagements from AdvanceFlow into UltraTax CS. First, you must assign or correct tax codes in AdvanceFlow. You must also mark the Enable import from AdvanceFlow checkbox on Setup > User Preferences >Misc. Then, you can use the Import form AdvanceFlow dialog to transfer the balances into UltraTax CS.

Other Thomson Reuters applications that integrate with UltraTax CS

Thomson Reuters' Onvio is a web-based suite of applications for tax professionals and accountants. If you are licensed for Onvio and have Onvio Link installed, you can share general client data between Onvio and UltraTax CS via Onvio Link. To do so, open the settings dialog in Onvio Link, verify the file location for your UltraTax CS client data is specified correctly, and mark the Enable Data Sharing checkbox. In UltraTax CS, verify that your Onvio data path is correct by choosing Setup > User Preferences > File Locations tab, clicking Other under Integrated applications, and choosing Onvio.  

The Onvio suite also includes the following applications.

  • Onvio Documents, a secure, cloud document storage and management solution. If you are licensed for Onvio Documents, you can send tax returns and other documents from UltraTax CS to Onvio Documents.
  • Onvio Workpapers, a cloud-based workpaper management system that simplifies client engagements. If you are licensed for Onvio Workpapers, you can import client account balances from Workpapers into UltraTax CS.

GoFileRoom is a secure, web-based document management application that allows you to store, view, edit, and manage documents online. You can store tax returns from UltraTax CS in GoFileRoom. To do so, you will need to configure UltraTax CS to send documents to GoFileRoom.

Third-party applications that integrate with UltraTax CS

You can import client data into UltraTax CS from any of the following third-party applications. Before you can import data, you need to specify client data and integrated application file locations, enter tax codes into the application from which you are exporting data, and have completed the export task in that application.
