MFA required for electronic filing

Effective May 3rd, the 2017 version of UltraTax CS requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access the electronic filing transmission feature in CS Connect.

Thomson Reuters is committed to proactively evolving our security features to help you protect your firm and your clients' data. For more information about multi-factor authentication, see Multi-factor authentication overview.

Because the data sharing feature uses Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs) to distinguish unique clients and share data between them, TINs that have multiple valid addresses associated with them can trigger unnecessary data sharing prompts.

Specifying valid addresses

To specify TINs that have multiple valid addresses, follow these steps.

  1. Choose Setup > Office Configuration and click the Data Sharing tab. The list pane on this tab contains all TINs that were previously designated as having multiple valid addresses.
  2. Click the Add button.
  3. Click either the EIN or SSN option and enter the EIN or SSN in the adjacent field.
  4. If desired, enter any additional notes regarding this TIN in the Comment field.
  5. Click the Enter button to add the new TIN to the list above.

Selecting applicable addresses when prompted

When a TIN that is specified as having multiple valid addresses is entered in an input screen, UltraTax CS responds in one of two ways.
