IRS filing deadline update

The IRS MeF system is now processing returns, and the filing deadline has been extended to 11:59 PM on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. For the latest details, see UltraTax CS alerts and notices.

Question

What should I do if I have electronically transmitted a return within the last 24 to 48 hours and have not yet received an acknowledgement from the IRS?

Answer

IRS acknowledgments

In general, you should receive federal acknowledgments from the IRS within 24 to 48 hours from when you sent the return.

Acknowledgments are received during CS Connect calls. If you have not received an acknowledgment, call into CS Connect before you contact CS Support. In CS Connect, confirm that the Electronic filing: Retrieve acknowledgements switch in the Options tab is set to Yes, and then click the Connect button.

If you used a third-party application vendor to transmit the electronic returns, contact the Support department of your vendor directly.

If you are using the Electronic Filing utility and have not received an acknowledgment within this time frame, call CS Support at 800.968.0600 and follow the prompts.

BSA E-Filing System acknowledgments

If the electronic file is a FinCEN Form 114 (FBAR) return, you will receive an acknowledgment from the BSA E-Filing System. The BSA E-Filing System processes FinCEN Form 114 electronic files and transmits acknowledgments to Thomson Reuters within one business day, per the FBAR Electronic Filing Technical Overview, pages 24 and 26. The acknowledgments are then available for download via CS Connect.
