Change to CS Support service hours

Our Support department is closed on [[date]]. However, limited UltraTax CS phone support is available on that date from 9 AM - 5 PM ET due to the approaching deadline.

Links to our most popular tax processing topics are available in the Alerts and notices section on the right side of most pages.

If you transmit an electronically filed return to Thomson Reuters and then discover a mistake or omission in the return, you can attempt to recall the return. If the recall is successful, you can correct the return, re-create the electronic file, and retransmit the return to us.

Sending a recall request does not guarantee that the return will be recalled. You must wait for an acknowledgment to determine whether the recall was successful.

A return can be recalled only if the return has not yet been transmitted by Thomson Reuters to the service center; therefore, you should consider the transmission of returns to us as the final step in the filing process, similar to dropping a return in a mailbox.

Notes

  • We do not follow a predetermined schedule when we transmit returns to service centers. Transmissions are completed based on electronic filing volume. Transmission times can be as short as 5 minutes during high volume days (days near a filing deadline) and as long as 30 minutes during days with less volume.
  • For the Modernized e-File (MeF) program, IRS maintenance schedules and downtimes are reported on the IRS MeF Status Page at http://www.irs.gov/Tax-Professionals/e-File-Providers-&-Partners/Modernized-e-File-MeF-Status-Page.
  • Per the MeF program, we continually transmit 1041 electronic returns as long as the IRS will receive returns. For more information, see Publication 4164, which you can access at www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p4164.pdf.

To recall a return, follow these steps.

  1. Choose Utilities > CS Connect, or click the CS Connect CS Connect button button in the toolbar to open the CS Connect dialog.
  2. In the Purpose of this call group box, click the Electronic filing: Recall transmitted returns switch to set it to Yes. If this switch is not enabled, there are no returns that qualify for a recall attempt.
  3. Click the Electronic Filing Recall tab.
  4. In the Clients available to recall pane, highlight the clients whose returns you want to recall during the next CS Connect session, and click the Select button. The selected clients move to the Clients selected to recall pane.
  5. Click the Connect button.

Notes

  • When the Recall transmitted returns switch is set to Yes, the Retrieve acknowledgements switch is automatically set to Yes so that you promptly receive the acknowledgment for the recall request if we are able to process the request immediately.
  • If you do not receive the acknowledgment during the call in which the recall request was sent, connect to CS Connect at a later time with the Retrieve acknowledgements switch set to Yes.
  • When a recall request is sent, the client status history shows "ELF file transmitted, recall pending."
  • When a recall request is successful, the client status history shows "ELF ACK received, return rejected" and can be expanded to show "Return recalled by Thomson Reuters at user request."
  • When a recall request is not successful, the next acknowledgment you receive will be from the taxing authority indicating whether the return was accepted or rejected. If the return is accepted, you must file an amended return (or for Corporate, Partnership, or Fiduciary returns, a superseding return). If the return is rejected, you can correct or complete the return and retransmit the electronic file.
