MFA required for electronic filing

Effective May 3rd, the 2017 version of UltraTax CS requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access the electronic filing transmission feature in CS Connect.

Thomson Reuters is committed to proactively evolving our security features to help you protect your firm and your clients' data. For more information about multi-factor authentication, see Multi-factor authentication overview.

A recent Windows 10 update may cause the error "Cannot open Client: No data files exist for this client" to appear when opening 1040 clients on Windows 10 workstations. Perform the following steps to check the version of Windows 10 in use:

  1. Click Start>Run or Win+R key combination
  2. In the resulting Run window, clear the input field, type winver and click OK.
  3. In the resulting window, look for the version number.
  4. If you are on version 1709, consult your IT professional for help rolling back to a date before the Windows update was applied.

If you are not on Windows 10, or if rolling back the update does not resolve the issue, see UltraTax CS: Error - "Cannot open Client XXX: No data files exist for this client"
