Error Code F1040-077-01: If Form 1040, Line 52 'ChildTaxCreditAmt' or Line 67 'AdditionalChildTaxCreditAmt' has a non-zero value, then the sum of Line 52 and Line 67 cannot exceed an amount equal to $1000 times the number of qualifying children.

This rejection occurs when there is a discrepancy with the entry for Child Tax Credit. When there is an amount present on line 52, Child Tax Credit or line 67, Additional child tax credit, then the sum of line 52 and 67 cannot exceed 1,000 times the number of qualifying children.

You must review the business rule, which will identify the Sequence Number to determine which child is causing the discrepancy. To determine which child is causing the issue, view the rejection text in Utilities > Electronic Filing Status. Then, check the data entry for the dependents to make sure that the Social Security numbers are correct, that the numbers are assigned to the proper dependent, and that the dates of birth are entered correctly for all children. Also, verify there is not an override on lines 52 or 67. If all of this appears correct, then contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040.

Note: For more information, choose View > Web Research > Government > IRS e-file for Individual Income Tax Returns when you have the client's return open in UltraTax CS.
