MFA required for electronic filing

Effective May 3rd, the 2017 version of UltraTax CS requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) to transmit e-files from CS Connect. Find out more.

Disabling the home page for CS Professional Suite applications can be a useful troubleshooting step. Follow the instructions below to disable the home page.

Globally

  1. Close UltraTax CS.
  2. Browse to X:\WinCSI\UTYYSys, where YY is the version of UltraTax CS and X is the drive or network location where UltraTax is installed. For example:
    • UltraTax CS 2016: UT16Sys
    • UltraTax CS 2015: UT15Sys
  3. Create a folder or file called utYYhome.na. Complete one of the two options below:
    1. Create a utYYhome.na folder:
      1. Press Ctrl + Shift + N.
      2. Name the new folder utYYhome.na where YY is equal to the last two digits of the year of UltraTax.
    2. Create a utYYhome.na file:
      1. Right-click the utYYhome.con file, where YY is the version of UltraTax CS.

        Note: If you do not see a utYYhome.con file, follow the steps below and look again:

        1. Start Windows Explorer (this can be done by opening any folder).
        2. Choose Organize > Folder and search options > View.

          Note: For Windows 8, 8.1, and 10, choose View > Options > View.

        3. Unmark Hide extensions for known file types.
      2. Choose Rename.
      3. Delete .con from the file name and add .na.
      4. Press ENTER on your keyboard to save the change.
      5. You should receive a message that the file might become unusable. Click Yes to confirm the change.
  4. Open UltraTax CS and confirm that the home page does not load.

User Specific

  1. Choose Setup > User Preferences > Home Page.
  2. Change the Display the Home Page drop-down to Never and click OK.
  3. Close and reopen UltraTax CS.
  1. Close FileCabinet CS.
  2. Browse to X:\WinCSI\FcabSys, where X is the drive or network location where FileCabinet CS is installed.
  3. Create a folder or file called fcYYhome.na. Complete one of the two options below:
    1. Create a fcYYhome.na folder:
      1. Press Ctrl + Shift + N.
      2. Name the new folder fcYYhome.na where YY is equal to the version of FileCabinet CS.
    2. Create a fcYYhome.na file:
      1. Right-click the fcYYhome.con file, where YY is the version of FileCabinet CS.

        Note: If you do not see a fcYYhome.con file, follow the steps below and look again:

        1. Start Windows Explorer (this can be done by opening any folder).
        2. Choose Organize > Folder and search options > View.

          Note: For Windows 8, 8.1, and 10, choose View > Options > View.

        3. Unmark Hide extensions for known file types.
      2. Choose Rename.
      3. Delete .con from the file name and add .na.

      5. You should receive a message that the file might become unusable. Click Yes to confirm the change.
  4. Open FileCabinet CS and confirm that the home page does not load.

Globally

  1. Close Fixed Assets CS.
  2. Browse to X:\WinCSI\DeprSys, where X is the drive or network location where Fixed Assets CS is installed.
  3. Create a folder or file called faYYhome.na. Complete one of the two options below:
    1. Create a faYYhome.na folder:
      1. Press Ctrl + Shift + N.
      2. Name the new folder faYYhome.na where YY is equal to the version of the year of Fixed Assets CS.
    2. Create a faYYhome.na file:
      1. Right-click the faYYhome.con file, where YY is the version of Fixed Assets CS.

        Note: If you do not see a utYYhome.con file, follow the steps below and look again:

        1. Start Windows Explorer (this can be done by opening any folder).
        2. Choose Organize > Folder and search options > View.

          Note: For Windows 8, 8.1, and 10, choose View > Options > View.

        3. Unmark Hide extensions for known file types.
      2. Choose Rename.
      3. Delete .con from the file name and add .na.
      4. Press ENTER on your keyboard to save the change.
      5. You should receive a message that the file might become unusable. Click Yes to confirm the change.
  4. Open Fixed Assets CS and confirm that the home page does not load.

User Specific

  1. Choose Setup > User Preferences > Miscellaneous.
  2. Change the Display the Home Page drop-down to Never and click OK.
  3. Close and reopen UltraTax CS.

The Home Page for Planner CS cannot be disabled.

  1. Close Creative Solutions Accounting.
  2. Browse to X:\WinCSI\CSASys, where X is the drive or network location where CSA is installed.
  3. Create a folder or file called csahome.na. Complete one of the two options below:
    1. Create a csahome.na folder:
      1. Press Ctrl + Shift + N.
      2. Name the new folder csahome.na .
    2. Create a csahome.na file:
      1. Right-click in the applicable directory and select New > Text Document.

      2. Name the file csahome.na and press Enter on the keyboard to save the change.

        When creating the csahome.na file, be aware that if the Hide extensions for known file types option is turned on (which is turned on by default in Windows), then the file being created is actually csahome.na.TXT. To turn this option off (or to verify that the option is turned off), follow the steps below:

        1. Start Windows Explorer (this can be done by opening any folder).
        2. Choose Organize > Folder and search options > View.

          Note: For Windows 8, 8.1, and 10, choose View > Options > View.

        3. Unmark Hide extensions for known file types and click OK.
        4. Right-click the csahome.na.txt file and chose Rename.
        5. Delete .txt from the file name.
        6. Press ENTER on your keyboard to save the change.
        7. You should receive a message that the file might become unusable. Click Yes to confirm the change.
  1. Open CSA and confirm that the home page does not load.

Re-enabling the home page

Disabling the home page in any CS Professional Suite application is typically a troubleshooting step or a temporary workaround. If or when a permanent resolution has been found, you can re-enable the home page by deleting the home.na file that was originally created (above) within the applicable directory.
