MFA required for electronic filing

When electronically filing a return, you can customize the tax return print collation just as you can for traditional returns. Note that you are customizing the print collation of paper copies of the return; the entire return "prints" in the electronic version that you file.

Note: The print conditions that appear in the list are either the defaults or those that you set. You can determine which items you want included in the paper copy of the electronic file but if you change the print conditions, you will also change the print conditions for the traditional returns.

  1. From the Setup menu, choose the application (for example, 1040 Individual) for which you want to edit the print collation.

    Note: Depending on your security configuration, you might be required to enter the master password and click OK before you can proceed.

  2. Click the desired federal or state tab.
  3. Click the Tax Return button.
  4. In the Government tab, for each item in the list that you want to customize, mark or clear the Print on paper checkbox to have UltraTax CS include the item in the print collation for the paper copy of the electronically filed return.

    Notes

    • If this checkbox is marked for an item, the item will print for the government collation as long as the print condition is not Never.
    • If this checkbox is not marked for an item, the item will not print regardless of the print conditions.
  5. In the Government tab, for each item in the list that you want to customize, select the item and either mark or clear the Include in Email/Web attachment checkbox to include the item in an attachment when the client copy of the return is delivered via email, PDF file, or NetClient CS web portal.

    Notes

    • The item will be included in a separate PDF attachment of "actionable items." Because a response may be required, the client will be instructed to immediately open the PDF and review the file.
    • This attachment is created only when the return is filed electronically and when the government copy is not printed on paper.
  6. After you customize the desired items, click OK.
  7. Click OK again to close the Product Information dialog.
