Use this dialog to select the forms and schedules; shareholder, partner, beneficiary, or participant packages (for 1120S, 1065, 1041, or 5500 clients); organizer pages (if you are licensed for the UltraTax/1040 Client Organizer); or input screens to print for the open client.

Changes made in this dialog affect only the current print job. Note that you can also change the collations for all clients.

To open this dialog, click the Options button in the Print Returns, Print Extensions, or Print Organizers dialog.

Note: The tabs contained in the Print Options dialog will vary depending on the clients and/or documents you have selected to print. Each tab and the fields and buttons it contains are described below.

Selected Returns/Selected Screens tab

Use the tabs to select the federal and/or state returns you want to print for the client. You can also choose certain pages of the federal return to print with complete state returns, and can choose the inserts for combined client documents and choose what is included on the invoice. One of these tabs appear in the Print Options dialog when you print any of the following:

Use this list to designate which returns will print with the current print job. If you are printing returns for a single client, you can choose to print each state return as well as the federal return by marking the appropriate checkboxes. If you are printing returns for multiple clients, use the Federal and state checkboxes to determine which returns will print.

  • Mark Federal button: Click this button to mark only the federal return and clear all other attached returns.
  • Mark States button: Click this button to mark all attached state returns and clear the federal return.
  • Mark PPT button: Click this button to mark all attached PPT states and clear all other returns.
  • Mark Packages button: Click this button to mark only the shareholder, partner, or beneficiary packages and clear all other items. 
  • Unmark All / Mark All button: Click this button to clear or mark all returns. This button changes based on the current selection.

Use the checkboxes in this group box to select additional documents for printing. Note that these checkboxes are available only when you have selected state returns for printing but have cleared the Federal checkbox in the Select returns to print list.

Use the options in this group box to determine which client documents will print with the selected returns.

  • Use the instruction letter options to determine whether UltraTax CS will print the inserts for all of the client's returns or only for those returns that you selected to print with the current job.

    Note: This option is only used if you have chosen to combine either the federal and state filing instructions or the transmittal letter and filing instructions using the options in the Document format group box in the Setup > [Entity] Information dialog.

  • Use the invoice options to determine whether the invoice will include forms and prices for all of the client's returns or only for the returns that you selected to print with the current job.
  • Use the list of returns options to determine if the list of returns will include all forms listed in the client or only list the forms for the returns that you selected to print with the current print job.

Selected Pages tab

Use this tab to print individual pages of the federal and/or state returns. This tab appears in the Print Options dialog when you print a tax return, input screens, or organizer for a single client.

Mark or clear the checkboxes in this list to select and deselect the pages or packages you want to print for the open client.

Notes

  • Changes made in this tab affect only the current print job and apply only if you print items for a single client.
  • If you modify the Selected Pages tab and click OK, the Client copy checkbox on the Print Returns dialog becomes the Print Selected Forms checkbox.
  • If the Selected Returns tab has been modified, the Selected Pages tab is not available.

Click these buttons to either mark or clear all items in the list for printing.

  • Mark Federal button: Click this button to mark only the federal return and clear all other attached returns.
  • Mark States button: Click this button to mark all attached state returns and clear the federal return.
  • Mark PPT button: Click this button to mark all attached PPT states and clear all other returns.

Selected Packages tab

This tab allows you to select the shareholders, partners, beneficiaries, or participants to print. This tab appears in the Print Options dialog when you print an 1120S, 1065, 1041, or 5500 tax return with at least one shareholder, partner, beneficiary, or participant, respectively.

Mark or clear the checkboxes in this list to select and deselect the pages or packages you want to print for the open client.

Note: Changes made in this tab affect only the current print job and apply only if you print items for a single client.

Click these buttons to either mark or clear all items in the list for printing.

  • Mark Federal button: Click this button to mark only the federal return and clear all other attached returns.
  • Mark States button: Click this button to mark all attached state returns and clear the federal return.
  • Mark PPT button: Click this button to mark all attached PPT states and clear all other returns.
  • Unmark All / Mark All button: Click this button to clear or mark all returns. This button changes based on the current selection.

Extension Print Options tab

This tab enables you to select the extension you want to print. This tab is available when the Print Options dialog is opened the Options button on the File > Print Extension dialog.

Click the option that corresponds to the extension form you want to print.

Print Options dialog Overview

  • Mark the Print an extra copy of state extensions when filing the federal extension electronically checkbox to have UltraTax CS print an extra copy of state extensions when you choose to file the federal extension electronically. (Note that this checkbox is only applicable if you marked the Create electronic file checkbox under the Extension option in the Print Returns dialog.)
  • Mark the Suppress client documents checkbox to prevent UltraTax CS from printing the extension client documents without having to edit the print collation.
  • Mark the Print estimates with extension checkbox to include estimates when printing the extension.
