MFA required for electronic filing

Effective May 3rd, the 2017 version of UltraTax CS requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) to transmit e-files from CS Connect. Find out more.

This feature enables firms that are licensed for office share or that have a branch license to set up their own data location, and independently update items, such as client documents, print options, and invoice pricing. 

Note: Although it is not typical, a single firm can add multiple data locations. For example, a firm may want to add a separate data location for each preparer. Generally, if you want to add a client data location on your local drive for personal or experimental use, you should specify a personal data location via the User Preferences dialog.

  1. From the Setup menu, choose System Configuration.

    Note: Depending on your security configuration, you might be required to enter the master password and click OK before you can proceed.

  2. Click the Data Locations tab.
  3. Click the Add Data Location button.

    Note: After an additional data location is added, UltraTax CS automatically copies configurable files to each new data location.

  4. Enter an alias for the data path.
  5. Click the Enter Path button next to the UltraTax CS field.
  6. In the Modify Location dialog, navigate to the directory in which you want to store the UltraTax CS client data.

    Note: When UltraTax CS is installed on a network, it is unusual for a data path to point to a location on a local hard drive. If you add a data path that is on your local hard drive, UltraTax CS prompts you to confirm the location.

  7. Click OK.
  8. Click the Enter Path button next to the Fixed Assets CS field.
  9. In the Modify Location dialog, navigate to the directory in which you want to store the depreciation client data.
  10. Click OK.
  11. If your firm is licensed for FileCabinet CS, choose the FileCabinet CS data path using the field provided. If you are not licensed for FileCabinet CS, click the Enter Path button and browse to the desired location for your File Drawer data.
  12. If your firm is licensed for a Remote data location, enter the Remote data location path using the field provided.
