Which IRS publications should I review for UltraTax/990 electronic filing?

Answer

  • IRS Publication 4163, Modernized e-File (MeF) Information for Authorized IRS e-file Providers: Describes which returns are not eligible for electronic filing, electronic filing due dates, electronic funds withdrawal, signature options, and IRS Business Rules (error codes).
  • IRS Publication 4164, Modernized e-File Guide for Software Developers and Transmitters: Describes which forms can be electronically filed, binary attachments, schema structure, transmission methods, acknowledgements, and business name control requirements.
