Entering asset data for UltraTax CS personal property tax (PPT) returns

To enter asset data for UltraTax CS personal property tax returns, perform the following steps.

  1. Open the desired client.
  2. Open the Asset List window for an activity.
  3. Enable and set up associations that are required for UltraTax CS personal property tax returns.
  4. Do one of the following tasks to enter a situs for an asset.

    If the Situs field is blank, the asset information will not transfer to the return in UltraTax CS.

  5. If you use associations (such as location or type) or if you want to use associations to sort or identify assets for PPT purposes, you can reassign a group of assets to PPT associations that are required for UltraTax CS personal property tax returns. Otherwise, you can proceed to the next step and enter PPT association data on an asset-by-asset basis.
  6. Open each asset in the Asset Detail dialog and enter the depreciation data and association data that is required for the personal property tax return. Select a state below for details about required PPT association data.

    Where are the PPT association fields? After completing steps 2 and 3 above, the association field names are blue and they appear at the top of the Asset Detail dialog or on the Other tab. (You can customize the placement of association fields in the Asset Detail dialog.)

    Click the state name for more information on depreciation treatments and associations required for state PPT assets.
