Error

'PrimaryPriorYearPIN' or 'PrimaryPriorYearAGIAmt' in the Return Header must match the e-File database. (value #########, rule IND-031-04)

Note: The value represents the SSN or EIN causing the rejection.

Solution

Confirm the Prior year taxpayer PIN or Prior year AGI for the taxpayer on the PIN screen, in the Electronic Filing folder, with the client. If the amount and PIN appear to be correct, do one of the following:

  • Contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 for more information.
  • Use the Practitioner PIN option, which does not require the entry of these shared secrets.

Note: To do this for all clients, choose Setup > Office Configuration, click the E-Filing tab, click the ERO button, and mark the Practitioner PIN Program filer checkbox. To turn this option off, remove the checkmark after the rejected return is re-transmitted.
