How do I access the State allocation spreadsheet for Screen 2106?

Answer

To access the State allocation spreadsheet for Screen 2106, the following conditions must be present in the current client.

  • The client being processed must include one or more of the following state returns: AL, CA, HI, MA, PA, or WI.
  • You must be viewing Client Organizer Data Entry or Input Screen Data Entry.
  • Data must exist in the Supplemental Business Expense section.

When these conditions have been met, access the spreadsheet by one of the following methods: click the Allocation icon in this screen; press CTRL+ B; right-click and choose Allocation from the context menu; or choose View > Allocation from the main toolbar.

Percentage: The percentage fields in the State allocation spreadsheet are available only for part-year residents and nonresidents. Enter a percentage in XXX.XX format to indicate the percentage of the allocated expenses in each category for a particular state. If a percentage is not entered in the State allocation spreadsheet, the following are the default in-state percentages.

  • The percentage entered in the State allocation spreadsheet on the related activity for the state.
  • One-hundred percent for the state that has a postal code in the related activity screen and zero percent for all other states.

Section 179 Carryover: Enter the amount of state section 179 carryover, if different. Zero (0) is a valid entry. If a carryover amount is not entered for a state, the default is the federal carryover amount.
