Question

What is education expense optimization?

Answer

Education expense optimization helps you determine whether the tuition and fees deduction or the education credits will be most advantageous for your client and will produce the largest overpayment or the lowest amount due for federal and state returns. The optimization process produces a detailed report that shows, on a per-student basis, the amount of the tuition and fees deduction or education credit that will be reported on the tax return. The report also includes a Tax Summary section that allows you to review how selected values on the tax return, including state net due / overpayment, will change based on your choices.
