Use the advanced allocation scheme to choose multiple columns for the allocation (for example, to use both an absolute dollar and a percentage column). You can add various combinations of allocation schemes using up to six allocation components with the following limitations.

  • No more than two Absolute dollar components can be added.
  • No more than two Percentage components (Percentage, % - Custom, Profit, Loss, or Ownership capital) can be added when not adding a Unit component. Only one Percentage component can be added when also adding a Unit component. When not also using a unit component, the last percentage component in the scheme must total 100 percent.
  • Units will always allocate 100% of the remaining balance to be allocated. Therefore, when used, Units should always be the last column in an advanced scheme.
  • The Greater Of component counts as two components. When using the Greater Of component, a Percentage or Unit component should also be added to allocate remaining amounts.
  1. Click the Ptr Alloc button to open the Special Allocation of dialog.
  2. Mark the Specially allocate checkbox, and click the Advanced allocation option.
  3. Click the Define Scheme button.
  4. Define the scheme. The order of the data entry types in the Allocation Components pane will be the order used to calculate the partners’ distributive share amounts.
    • To use a previously defined advanced allocation scheme, select the desired format from the Previously Used Schemes pane and click the Select button. The columns from that format are now listed in the Advanced Scheme pane. To modify the format, add allocation components, click the Remove button, or use the Move Up and Move Down buttons.
    • To create a new advanced allocation scheme, select the data entry type in the Allocation Components pane and click the Add button for each column in the desired format. The columns are now listed in the Advanced Scheme pane. To modify the order of the columns, use the Move Up and Move Down buttons.
  5. Click OK to return to the Special Allocation of dialog.

Note: UltraTax CS saves the new format and lists the format in the Previously Used Schemes pane the next time you open the Advanced Allocation Scheme dialog.

  6. Enter the special allocation information in the Special Allocation of dialog, and click OK.
