New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

This topic outlines how to direct web tax returns and web organizers from UltraTax CS to the proper NetClient CS portal.

To select the NetClient portal destination, select Setup > Client Communications, then click the NetClient CS icon, Image of NetClient Icon.

Note:

  • Clicking the NetClient CS button opens the NetClient CS Portal Destination dialog for that particular client.
  • The NetClient CS Portal Destination dialog shows a list of all NetClient portals. The Refresh button will re-sync the list of portals with NetClient CS.
  • If the client is linked to any portal(s), the portal(s) will automatically show at the top of the list.

Tax Return Destination

Use this column to select the portal(s) as the destination of that client's tax return.

This selection indicates that the NetClient portal is not linked to the corresponding UltraTax client. All portals are marked as "None" by default.

This selection indicates that the NetClient portal may view the corresponding UltraTax client once the return is assembled and transmitted via CS Connect and can use the e-signature option to sign this return. An UltraTax client may have as many portals designated as "viewer" as you desire.

This selection indicates that the NetClient portal may view the corresponding UltraTax client once the return is assembled and transmitted via CS Connect and can use the e-signature option to sign this return. which is the same permission as the "viewer" designation. The only difference between "owner" and "viewer" is that if the client's email address is modified in UltraTax, then the client's email address in NetClient will update automatically when the return is pushed to the portal.

Note:

  • Only 1 "owner" is allowed per UltraTax client.
  • Each portal may be the "owner" of only 1 tax return.
  • If the "owner" selection is grayed out from the drop-down menu, then that portal is already the "owner" of another tax return.

Web Organizer Destination

For 1040 clients, mark the checkbox in the Web Org Destination column to select a portal as the destination for the web organizer.

Note:

  • Only 1 web organizer is allowed per portal, regardless if it is an individual or business organizer.
  • If the checkbox is grayed out, it indicates that a web organizer is already linked to the portal.
