Follow these steps to assemble and transmit tax returns for your clients to access via a secure NetClient CS web portal. Your clients can access their portals at any time using login credentials provided in an automated email from your firm.

Note: If you use FileCabinet CS to store client source documents (such as W-2s or 1099s), you can include those documents with the client copy of the return when you transmit it to NetClient CS.

Video overview

The following video outlines the features described in the steps below.

Assembling web tax returns

  1. Choose File > Print Returns to open the Print Returns dialog.
  2. In the Print what group box, click the Web/eSignature option under the Client copy checkbox.

    Notes

    • If you entered a firm URL in the field in the Web Delivery group box in the Setup > Client Communications > Web Delivery Options dialog, the text "Thomson Reuters data center" in the Web/eSignature option will be replaced with the firm URL.
    • When printing a single client, UltraTax CS will automatically select an option for the client copy in the Print what group box that reflects the delivery preference that was chosen for the client in the Setup > Client Communications dialog.
  3. Click the Clients button to open the Select Clients to Print dialog. This dialog allows you to select the clients for whom you want to assemble tax returns for the web.

    Notes

    • To quickly select all clients, click the Select All button.
    • If multiple clients are selected, the Per client settings option will be selected in the Print what group box and UltraTax CS will process the returns according the individual client delivery preferences selected in the Setup > Client Communications dialog.
  4. Click OK to close the Select Clients to Print dialog, and then click the Assemble button.

Transmitting returns to secure web portals

After the tax returns are assembled, you need to transmit them using CS Connect. CS Connect is a utility that runs as part of UltraTax CS. It uses the same data-entry and display conventions that are used in UltraTax CS.

Follow these steps to transmit tax returns for your clients to access via a secure web portal.

  1. Click the CS Connect button on the UltraTax CS toolbar.
  2. Click the Options tab.
  3. Mark the Web Delivery: Transmit returns checkbox in the Purpose of this call group box.
  4. Click the Web Delivery tab. Use this tab to select the clients to whom you want to transmit tax returns.
  5. Click the Call Now button to transmit the tax returns. When the tax returns are transmitted, the greeting is sent via email to each of your clients instructing them that their tax returns are available and how to access them.

Note: You can send all returns and attached source documents to NetClient CS portals via web delivery. This includes 1040, 1120, 1065, 1041, 706, 709, 990, and 5500 returns.
