Complete the appropriate task to create a new advanced security group or to modify an existing advanced security group.

Note: Follow these steps only if you are using advanced security options rather than the standard options.

Adding advanced security groups

To add a group to which you can assign users and therefore manage access to UltraTax CS features, complete the following steps.

  1. Choose Setup > Security, enter the master password, and mark the Enable advanced user/group security checkbox, if necessary.
  2. Click the Groups tab, then click the Add Group button.

Any standard security settings you set in the Setup > Security > Security tab will transfer as privilege settings to the default $Guests group when you enable advanced security options for the first time.

  3. Enter a group name and description in the Group name and Description fields.
  4. Configure privilege settings. To do so, select Allow or Restrict from the drop-down list next to each privilege.

Note: If security options for this group are similar to those for another group, choose the similar group from the Assume privileges of group field and click the Apply button. You can further customize the assumed privileges in the drop-down lists in the Settings column.

  5. Click OK.

Editing advanced security groups

To change the name, description, or privilege settings for an advanced security group, follow these steps.

  1. Choose Setup > Security, enter the master password.
  2. Click the Groups tab, and highlight the group you want to edit.
  3. Click the Edit Group button.
  4. In the Edit Group dialog, change the group's name, description, and/or privilege settings.
  5. Click OK to close the Edit Group dialog.

Notes

  • You cannot change the name or description for UltraTax CS groups, which include the $Administrators, $Guests, and $Unauthorized Users groups. Show me.
  • You cannot change privilege settings for the $Administrators or $Unauthorized Users groups. Users in the $Administrators group can always access all areas of UltraTax CS. Users in the $Unauthorized Users group will always be denied access to UltraTax CS.
