Use the tabs in this dialog to set the page layout and shading options for the following items.

  • Gov't, Client, and Preparer tabs: Use these tabs to set the options for the tax return collations.
  • Organizer tab: Use this tab to set the options for the organizer pages if you are licensed for the 1040 Client Organizer.
  • Input screen tab: Use this tab to set the options for the input screens.
  • Other tab: Use this tab to set the options for printing client reports. Options set in this tab also apply to letters created using Data Mining.

To open this dialog, click the Page Layout and Shading button in the Print Options tab.

Fields & buttons

1 printed page per sheet

To print one item per sheet of paper and to print on only one side of the sheet, click this option.

Duplex - 2 printed pages per sheet (Gov't forms P1 & P2 use front / back)

To print IRS forms Pages 1 and 2 back to back, click this option.

Notes

  • All items except IRS forms Pages 1 and 2 will print one item per sheet of paper and only on the front.
  • This option is not available in the Organizer, Input screen, and Other tabs.

Duplex - 2 printed pages per sheet (all forms use front / back)

To print all items back to back and one item per side, click this option.

Note: This option is not available in the Government tab.

Begin each client document and slipsheet on its own page

When printing all items back to back and one item per side, mark this checkbox if you also want each client document and slipsheet to begin on a new page.

On the Other tab, this checkbox is called Government forms P1 & P2 use front / back. When printing forms that are not included in a tax return collation (such as Form 9325), mark this checkbox to only duplex pages 1 and 2 back to back.

Notes

  • This option is available only if you clicked the Duplex - 2 printed pages per sheet (all forms use front / back) option.
  • This option is not available in the Government or Input Screen tab.

2 Up - 2 printed pages per sheet (front only)

To print two items per sheet of paper and only on the front, click this option.

Notes

  • If you select this option, UltraTax CS compresses the font so that one item fits in the left half of a sheet of paper and the other item fits in the right half.
  • This option is not available in the Government tab.

2 Up Duplex - 4 printed pages per sheet (2 front / 2 back)

To print four items per sheet of paper, two on the front and two on the back, click this option.

Notes

  • If you select this option, UltraTax CS compresses the font so that one item fits in the top half of a sheet of paper and the other item fits in the bottom half.
  • This option is not available in the Government tab.

Shading

You can adjust the darkness of the shaded areas on printed forms. Click on the line above None, Light, or Normal to move the sliding lever to the desired location.

Notes

  • Normal shading is 20% shade, and light shading is 10% shade.
  • This option is not available in the Other tab.

Notes:

  • If you choose any of the duplex printing options, note that some combinations of operating system and printer cause the back page to print upside down. If this occurs, open the Select Printer dialog in the Print screen and select the appropriate option from the Invert duplex page 2 for field.
  • If you choose to print selected pages, only the shading options on the Other tab in the Page Layout and Shading dialog will apply.
