New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

Each preparer that has been entered in UltraTax CS must be assigned to a firm if licenses for multiple firm branches or share offices have been installed to the same application location. (If only one firm's license is installed in the application location, the preparer will be assigned to a firm by default.)

Complete the following steps to assign each preparer to a firm.

  1. From the Setup menu, choose Office Configuration.

Note: Depending on your security configuration, you might be required to enter the master password and click OK before you can proceed.

  2. Click the Preparers tab in the Office Configuration dialog.
  3. Highlight the appropriate preparer.
  4. Click the Edit button.
  5. In the Preparer Information dialog, select the appropriate firm in the Associate of firm field.

Note: For information on adding or editing other information in this dialog, see Entering preparer information.

  6. Click OK.

Repeat these steps for each preparer.

Tip: You can set up a default preparer so that all new clients are automatically assigned to that preparer. (If necessary, the assignment can be overridden in the New Client or Client Properties dialog.) To set up a default preparer, select Setup > User Preferences > My Settings tab.
