Our History in Brief

In 1979—when interview sheets were manually prepared and sent to service bureaus to be input into mainframe computers, and before the World Wide Web and Microsoft® Windows® 1.0 were even in existence—Larry Beach established Creative Solutions, Inc.

Larry's vision was to develop advanced tax and accounting software to help accountants increase efficiency, productivity, and profitability—and he was determined to support the software with exceptional, knowledgeable customer service. Creative Solutions, Inc. sold the first client write-up system in November of that year.

In 1997, Creative Solutions became part of the Thomson Corporation, which combined with Reuters Group PLC in 2008 to form Thomson Reuters, the world's leading provider of information and technology solutions.

The Power of Integration

Product integration has always been a part of our vision. It was never a matter of "if" or "Can we do it?" Rather, it was a matter of "when" and "How do we make it happen?" As a result, today Thomson Reuters offers the most comprehensive line of seamlessly integrated software available to accounting professionals.

In the more than three decades since Larry Beach founded Creative Solutions, we've developed two complete suites of tax and accounting software to handle all your needs, from write-ups to engagements and from payroll to client bookkeeping. And we pride ourselves on the fact that even after all these years, our efforts are still dedicated exclusively to the needs of practicing accountants and tax professionals.

Looking Forward

In 1980, Creative Solutions products operated only on the era's market-leading Radio Shack computers. Today, Thomson Reuters software and web services are used on a variety of systems by more than 50,000 professional firms nationwide. Virtual Office CS, which offers web-based delivery of a firm's software, has even allowed our users to expand their practices geographically without the need to build branch offices.

Vision, dedication, knowledge, service, and technology—it's a powerful mix that makes Thomson Reuters the company it is today.
