COVID-19 changes
- We have updated the application to accommodate new paid sick leave and liability credits mandated by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. To help you meet the requirements of the act, we have made the following changes.
- We have added three new options to the Special type field in the Main tab of the Setup > Payroll Items screen for creating new paid leave payroll items related to the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
During payroll check calculation, Accounting CS automatically exempts the pay items that you create using the new COVID-19 special types from the employer portion of the FICA-SS liability.
- We have added three new options to the Special type field in the Main tab of the Setup > Payroll Items screen for creating new paid leave payroll items related to the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
- We have added the Average Payroll Cost Worksheet to the Accounting CS Library. You can provide this report to your clients to help them apply for the Paycheck Protection Program, as specified in the CARES Act.
- We have added the following articles in the Help & How-To Center to help you navigate the process of setting up and activating pay items for the new paid sick leave types and for, optionally, tracking hours using accruable benefit items.
General
- We have addressed an issue that caused an error to occur during attempts to open the Scheduled Backup dialog (accessed via the Schedule a recurring backup link in the File > Backup dialog). This issue is not applicable to firms using Virtual Office CS or Software as a Services (SaaS).

Accounting CS Payroll, for live payroll processing
In addition to any changes made for general payroll features listed above for after-the-fact payroll processing, the following changes have been made for the live payroll processing features specific to Accounting CS Payroll.
- For every release, be sure to check the Updates for payroll tax rates, limits, and minimum wage rates (year to date) article to stay on top of changes that may affect your firm and clients.
Accounting CS includes two interactive tools that provide valuable payroll tax information.
- The Payroll Form and Filing Information portlet provides information on federal, state, and certain local tax agents in the Home Dashboard or Firm Dashboard.
- The State-specific payroll tax form information article provides information on state payroll tax forms, processing tips, due dates, filing methods, agency information, tax payment details, state ID formats, e-filing notes, new hire reporting requirements, and more.
