COVID-19 changes

  • We have updated the application to accommodate the new Employee Retention Credit that was made available with the CARES Act. Details
    • In the COVID-19 Acts tab of the Setup > Clients screen, you can now specify the 2020 quarters in which a client is claiming the Employee Retention Credit for all employees. When you mark the checkbox for a quarter, Accounting CS generates a “FIT Employee Retention Tax Adj” liability in the amount of the employee retention credit for payroll checks dated within that quarter. For more information, see COVID-19 - Employee Retention Credit.
    • We have added the ability to manually create “FIT Employee Retention Tax Adj” liabilities in the Actions > Manage Payroll Liabilities screen, for the amount of the Employee Retention Credit. For more information, see COVID-19 - Employee Retention Credit.
  • We have added Employee Retention Credit-related variables to the Client > COVID-19 Acts Information section of the variable tree in the Report Designer. Details

We have added the following variables.

    • Claim First Quarter 2020 Employee Retention Credit
    • Claim Second Quarter 2020 Employee Retention Credit
    • Claim Third Quarter 2020 Employee Retention Credit
    • Claim Fourth Quarter 2020 Employee Retention Credit
  • We have added the Employee Retention Credit Summary to the Accounting CS Library.

    • EFTPS Phone Payment Worksheet – COVID-19

Reports

  • We have updated the Tax Deposit report to address an issue that, in certain circumstances, caused some tax liabilities to be excluded from the report's federal tax deposit totals.

Note: If your firm has modified the predefined version of a report, Accounting CS will not overwrite your existing report with an updated version. If this is the case, you will need to make the necessary changes to your customized report manually, or you will need to restore the latest predefined version using the Report Designer. To do the latter, select the report from the Reports list pane in the Report Designer and then choose File > Restore Default.

Import of client data from QuickBooks Online

  • We have addressed an issue that, in certain circumstances, caused an error to occur during attempts to import from QuickBooks Online or export to QuickBooks Online. Details
This issue was related to the Chart of Accounts mapping between QuickBooks Online accounts and Accounting CS accounts.
