- We have updated the Export Client Data Wizard for tax exports to Lacerte, ProSystem fx, and ProSeries for the 2020 tax year.

Layout Designer
- We have updated the following Form W-2 layout due to unnecessary variables being mistakenly placed in boxes 9, 12b, and 13.

Note: If your firm has modified the predefined version of a layout, Accounting CS will not overwrite your existing layout with an updated version. If this is the case, you will need to make the necessary changes to your customized layout manually, or you will need to restore the latest predefined version using the Layout Designer. To do the latter, select the layout from the Layouts list pane in the Layout Designer and then choose File > Restore Default.
COVID-19 changes
- We have made the following changes to the application as a result of the extension and expansion of several COVID-19 payroll provisions that were included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, which was signed into law by President Trump on December 27, 2020.
- We have updated the Average Payroll Cost Worksheet that is available in the Accounting CS Library to accommodate the recent changes made to the Payroll Protection Program. Details
- We have made the following enhancements to the deferral of employee Social Security tax withholding functionality in the application. For more information, see COVID-19: Deferral of employee Social Security tax withholding.
- We have updated the end date to be 12/31/2021 in the Special Timing tab of the Setup > Payroll Items screen for all deduction items that are set to the Deferred FICA-SS repayment special type.
- We have updated the due date to be 12/31/2021 for all open FICA-SS liabilities that were generated from 2020 payroll checks and flagged by the application as Deferred per Memorandum in the Actions > Manage Payroll Liabilities screen.
- We have made the following enhancements to the COVID-19 paid sick leave functionality in the application. For more information, see Setting up and using COVID-19 paid sick leave.
- We have updated the application to extend the calculation of COVID-19 paid sick leave in 2021 to payroll checks where the period begin and period end dates are on or before March 31, 2021.
Accounting CS Payroll, for live payroll processing
In addition to any changes made for general payroll features listed above for after-the-fact payroll processing, the following changes have been made for the live payroll processing features specific to Accounting CS Payroll.

Payroll compliance
- We have added the state-specific 1095-C forms to the Form Information tab of the Payroll Form and Filing Information portlet.
- We have combined the W-2 Copy 1 and transmittal forms into a single available selection in the Form filter options in the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen for the following jurisdictions and forms.
- Hawaii - Copy 1/HW-30
- Idaho - Copy 1/967
- Maryland - Copy 1/MW-508
- Missouri - Copy 1/MO-W3
- North Dakota - Copy 1/307
- South Carolina - Copy 1/WH-1612
- West Virginia - Copy 1/WV/IT-103
- We have removed the Client PIN and Confirm client PIN fields from the Federal 94X Additional Information dialog (accessed from the Payroll Taxes tab of the Setup > Clients screen). For more information, see Ending 94x client PIN enrollment and filing.
- We have addressed an issue that, in certain circumstances, prevented Alabama and Ohio payroll tax forms from being able to be processed in the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen or the Actions > Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen.
- New Jersey. The State of New Jersey - Department of Taxation now requires all employers to file Form NJ-W-3 electronically and will no longer accept paper copies of the form. Therefore, we have removed the Paper filing method for the form and added the Web fill-in method. You can file the form using the Internet filing method.

Accounting CS includes two interactive tools that provide valuable payroll tax information.
- The Payroll Form and Filing Information portlet provides information on federal, state, and certain local tax agents in the Home Dashboard or Firm Dashboard.
- The State-specific payroll tax form information article provides information on state payroll tax forms, processing tips, due dates, filing methods, agency information, tax payment details, state ID formats, e-filing notes, new hire reporting requirements, and more.
