Reports
- We have updated the 1099 Activity payroll report to add the Vendor Information checkbox in the Sections to Include section of the report options. Details
Note: If your firm has modified the predefined version of a report, Accounting CS will not overwrite your existing report with an updated version. If this is the case, you will need to make the necessary changes to your customized report manually, or you will need to restore the latest predefined version using the Report Designer. To do the latter, select the report from the Reports list pane in the Report Designer and then choose File > Restore Default.
Report Designer
- We have added the 7200 Advance Year variable to the Client > COVID-19 Acts Information section of the variable tree.
- We have added the Note variable to the following sections of the variable tree.

General - Payroll
- We have updated the WorkforceHUB integration to now transfer the employee inactive date from Accounting CS. For more information, see WorkforceHUB integration: Information flow.
COVID-19 changes
- We have made the following changes to the application in response to the extension of several COVID-19 payroll provisions that were included in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, which was signed into law by President Biden on March 11, 2021.
- We have updated the application to extend the calculation of COVID-19 paid sick leave and paid family leave in 2021 to payroll checks where the period begin or period end dates are on or before September 30, 2021. For more information, see Setting up and using COVID-19 paid sick leave.
- We have updated the following sections in the COVID-19 Acts tab of the Setup > Clients screen to assist you with recording 2020 and 2021 values for Form 94x reporting.
- Form 7200 Advance Payment Information. Use this section to record any advance payments requested that should be reported on Form 941, 943, or 944 for 2020 or 2021.
- Federal 94x Information. Use this section to record any qualified health plan expenses that should be allocated to the COVID-19 related sick leave or family leave wages reported on Form 941, 943, or 944 for 2020 or 2021.
- We have updated the 7200 Worksheet - COVID-19 report in the Accounting CS Library to include the various COVID-19 credits that have been extended into 2021. For more information, see COVID-19 - Custom reports. (Idea Incubator #2362)
- We have added the 7200 Advance Year variable to the Client > COVID-19 Acts Information section of the variable tree in the Report Designer.
- We have updated Form 941 and the electronic file to the latest version released by the IRS for tax processing periods 3/31/2021 and later. For more information, see Form 941: COVID-19 changes.
- We have re-enabled the Actions > Analyze Client Activity > Payroll Tax Form menu item when 2020 or 2021 is selected as the Form 941 processing year in the Actions > Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen. Details
Note: In cases where Form 941 includes COVID-19 paid sick leave wages for the quarter, we will update the Payroll Tax Form analysis tool to provide the correct FICA-SS ER (Calculated) amounts in an application update tentatively scheduled for April 22, 2021.
Accounting CS Payroll, for live payroll processing
In addition to any changes made for general payroll features listed above for after-the-fact payroll processing, the following changes have been made for the live payroll processing features specific to Accounting CS Payroll.
- Illinois. We have updated the Illinois Creditor Garnishment calculation based on the latest version of Form EDC-111 released by the state.
- For every release, be sure to check the Updates for payroll tax rates, limits, and minimum wage rates (year to date) article to stay on top of changes that may affect your firm and clients.
Payroll compliance
- We have updated the user interface in the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen and the Actions > Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen. (Idea Incubator #2322) Details
- We have added the following Box 14 codes to the 1095-C Part II: Offer and Coverage dialog (accessed via the Personal Information tab of the Setup > Employees screen) and to the Box 14 column in the Employee Data tab of the Actions > Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen.

- We have added the ability to remove old files that are no longer in a supported agency format from the Actions > Process Electronic Forms screen and the Actions > Process Internet/Magnetic Files screen. Details
- We have removed the Actions > Enroll > 94X Client PIN screen to complete the phaseout of the individual client PIN filing method for 94x forms. For more information, see Ending 94x client PIN enrollment and filing. Details
- Arizona. Effective January 1, 2021, the Arizona Department of Revenue now requires all employers to file Form A1-QRT electronically and will no longer accept paper copies of the form. Therefore, we have removed the Paper filing method for the form and added the Web fill-in method. You can file the form using the Electronic filing method.
- Vermont. We have updated the Healthcare Contribution rate used for Form WHT-436. Details
- Virginia. Effective January 1, 2021, the Virginia Employment Commission now requires all employers to file Forms VEC-FC-20 and VEC-FC-21 electronically and will no longer accept paper copies of the forms. Therefore, we have removed the Paper filing method for the forms and added the Web fill-in method. You can file the forms using the Internet filing method.
Updates for payroll tax forms, tax agents, and new hire files
To search for a specific state, locality, form, or file in one of the sections listed below, follow these steps.
Accounting CS includes two interactive tools that provide valuable payroll tax information.
- The Payroll Form and Filing Information portlet provides information on federal, state, and certain local tax agents in the Home Dashboard or Firm Dashboard.
- The State-specific payroll tax form information article provides information on state payroll tax forms, processing tips, due dates, filing methods, agency information, tax payment details, state ID formats, e-filing notes, new hire reporting requirements, and more.
