New features and new reports that are released in this version might be protected by security privileges. If your firm has enabled firm security, please evaluate all enhancements and update your security groups as needed.
On July 12, 2022, Microsoft ended support for SQL Server 2012 and earlier. Therefore, as of the v.2022.2.0 Accounting CS release, your firm should have SQL Server 2014 or higher installed on the servers that run Accounting CS. See Discontinued support for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 for details and steps you can take to continue using Accounting CS without interruption.
Note: This change does not affect firms using Accounting CS on Virtual Office or Software as a Service (SaaS).

- We have updated the report-based dashboard portlets to utilize Microsoft Edge via the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime component.

General - Payroll
- Connecticut. We have addressed an issue that prevented the Connecticut FLI tax from calculating on payroll checks if the Connecticut SUI tax item was marked Wage Exempt on the Payroll Taxes tab of the Setup > Clients screen or the Setup > Employees screen.
- Pennsylvania locals. We have updated the application to accept the new 9-character alphanumeric Withholding ID format that is being issued by the City of Pittsburgh.
Accounting CS Payroll, for live payroll processing
In addition to any changes made for general payroll features listed above for after-the-fact payroll processing, the following changes have been made for the live payroll processing features specific to Accounting CS Payroll.
- We have added a warning message in the Payroll Schedules dialog (accessed via the Payroll Information tab of the Setup > Clients screen) that prevents the check date from being changed to a date in another year if the payroll schedule has a Suspended status.
- For every release, be sure to check the Updates for payroll tax rates, limits, and minimum wage rates (year to date) article to stay on top of changes that may affect your firm and clients.
Payroll compliance
- We have made the following enhancements to the Actions > Process Internet/Magnetic Files screen when the staff member entering the screen is restricted from one or more clients included in the files in the screen. (Idea Incubator #1830)
- We have added the Disallow removal of restricted clients from internet/magnetic files checkbox in the Preferences tab of the Setup > Firm Information > Firm screen. For more information, see Firm > Preferences tab.
- We now update the Status field on a form to be Not Processed in the Form Selection grid of the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen when restricted clients are removed from internet/magnetic files in the Actions > Process Internet/Magnetic Files screen.
Note: Based on the available options and selections made, the application may change or hide an internet/magnetic file in the Actions > Process Internet/Magnetic Files screen if the staff member is restricted from one or more clients queued in the file. For more information, see Forms missing from the Process Internet/Magnetic Files screen.
- Montana. We have added the ability to file Form MW-1 electronically via FSET. For more information, see Montana payroll tax information.
- Pennsylvania locals.
- We have combined the W-2 Copy 1 and transmittal forms into a single available selection in the Form filter options in the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen and the Actions > Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen for the following local tax agents and forms.

Note: We plan to combine the remaining W-2 Copy 1 and transmittal forms for Pennsylvania locals into a single available filter selection in a future release.
- Effective for tax year 2022, the City of Philadelphia has moved its annual reconciliation to a quarterly filing requirement. All employers are required to electronically file the new quarterly reconciliation Form Philadel_Q.
With this release, the Form Philadel_Q worksheet is now available for processing using the Web fill-in filing method.
The payroll software industry continues to work closely with the City of Philadelphia on implementing an electronic filing system that supports the new Form Philadel_Q worksheet and bulk filing requirements. Once it becomes available from the agency, we plan to release the bulk internet file in a future release.
- We have combined the W-2 Copy 1 and transmittal forms into a single available selection in the Form filter options in the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen and the Actions > Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen for the following local tax agents and forms.
- Washington. We have added the SOC code field to the Other State Settings section of the Payroll Taxes tab in the Setup > Employees screen (for Washington only). Details

To search for a specific state, locality, form, or file in one of the sections listed below, follow these steps.
Accounting CS includes two interactive tools that provide valuable payroll tax information.
- The Payroll Form and Filing Information portlet provides information on federal, state, and certain local tax agents in the Home Dashboard or Firm Dashboard.
- The State-specific payroll tax form information article provides information on state payroll tax forms, processing tips, due dates, filing methods, agency information, tax payment details, state ID formats, e-filing notes, new hire reporting requirements, and more.
