On July 12, 2022, Microsoft ended support for SQL Server 2012 and earlier. Therefore, as of the v.2022.2.0 Accounting CS release, your firm should have SQL Server 2014 or higher installed on the servers that run Accounting CS. See Discontinued support for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 for details and steps you can take to continue using Accounting CS without interruption.

Note: This change does not affect firms using Accounting CS on Virtual Office or Software as a Service (SaaS).

General

  • We have addressed an issue that caused an error to occur during attempts to retrieve transactions in the Bank Feeds portlet of the Bank Feeds Dashboard.

Accounting

  • We have updated the tax codes that are available for selection in the Setup > Chart of Accounts screen and the Actions > Enter Trial Balance screen for integration with the 2022 version of UltraTax CS and GoSystem Tax RS.
  • We have updated the Tax Code Listing for the 2022 tax year.

Import of client data from QuickBooks Online

  • We have updated the import of Check Purchase transactions and Credit Card Purchase transactions to include transaction descriptions based on the memo text when the payee is blank in QuickBooks Online. (Idea Incubator #738)

Reports

  • We have updated the Tax Code Worksheet accounting report for the 2022 tax year.

    Note: If your firm has modified the predefined version of a report, Accounting CS will not overwrite your existing report with an updated version. If this is the case, you will need to make the necessary changes to your customized report manually, or you will need to restore the latest predefined version using the Report Designer. To do the latter, select the report from the Reports List pane in the Report Designer and then choose File > Restore Default.

General - Payroll

  • Arizona. We have updated the Gross taxable wages field in the State Withholding section of the Payroll Taxes tab in the Setup > Employees screen to include the new 2023 rates. Details
  • Indiana. The Indiana Department of Revenue has released Form WH-4, effective October 1, 2022. This form offers an additional exemption for adopted qualifying dependents. If an employee elects to claim this exemption, you'll need to increase the value in the Dependent exemptions field (on the Payroll Taxes tab of the Setup > Employees screen) by 2 for each exemption being claimed.
  • Colorado. We have added the Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance tax that becomes effective January 1, 2023. The accompanying payment and reconciliation forms will be available in a future release, in time to meet the forms' respective deadlines. For more information, see Colorado FLI calculations.
  • Oregon. We have added the Oregon Paid Leave tax that becomes effective January 1, 2023. The accompanying payment and reconciliation forms will be available on a future release, in time to meet the forms' respective deadlines. For more information, see Oregon FLI calculations.
  • Washington. We have updated the application to accept either the 9-digit or the new 12-digit Unemployment ID being issued by the Washington Employment Security Department.

Accounting CS Payroll, for live payroll processing

In addition to any changes made for general payroll features listed above for after-the-fact payroll processing, the following changes have been made for the live payroll processing features specific to Accounting CS Payroll.

Payroll compliance

  • Kentucky. The Kentucky State Treasurer now requires all employers to file Form K-3 electronically and will no longer accept paper copies of the form. Therefore, we have removed the Paper filing method for the form and added the Web fill-in method. You can still file the form using the Electronic filing method.
  • Montana. We have removed the Internet filing method from Form UI-5/UI-5G. You can still file the form using the Electronic filing method.
  • Oregon locals. We have updated the descriptions used in Form W-2 Box 20 for the following local taxes.
    • Eugene Community Safety Payroll Tax = EUG
    • Metro Supportive Housing Services Income Tax = METRO
    • Multnomah County Preschool for All Income Tax = MULT
  • Pennsylvania. We now separate the recipient's name into the first, middle, and last name fields of the 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, and 1099-R internet files when the recipient has an SSN. For more information, see Pennsylvania payroll tax form information. (Idea Incubator #2055)
  • Pennsylvania locals.We have combined the W-2 Copy 1 and transmittal forms into a single available selection in the Form filter options in the Actions > Process Payroll Tax Forms screen and the Actions > Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen for the following local tax agents and forms.
    • Danville Area EIT Office – Copy 1/Danville_A_EIT
    • Franklin County Area Wage Bureau - EIT – Copy 1/Franklin_A_EIT
  • Washington. We have removed the Preprinted and Preprinted with labels filing methods from Form 5208A/5208B and updated it to a worksheet format. You can still file the form using the Internet filing method.

  • Forms pending approval

    The following forms are pending approval. Once the forms have been approved, we will make them available in a subsequent software update.

    Forms that are approved after the current update (and before the next update) will be made available immediately. We will inform you of the approval in the following ways.

    • Via an alert message that displays when you open the application.
    • In the Payroll Alerts section of the Notices portlet on the Home or Firm dashboard.
