After a client record has been set up and saved, you may find that you need to change the client's processing frequency. To do this, follow the applicable procedure below.

Note: If any transactions have been entered for a client, the client's current period end date must be within the latest fiscal year (determined by the latest period end date) in order to change the period frequency.

Follow these steps to update the client's processing frequency.

  1. Choose Setup > Clients and click the Accounting Information tab.
  2. Select the desired frequency from the Period frequency field.
  3. In the Update Period End Dates dialog, verify or enter the new period end dates for the applicable years, and then click OK.
  4. In the Map Posting Periods dialog, verify or map the original period end dates to the new period end dates so that the transactions remain linked to the correct periods. Click OK when all end dates have been mapped.
  5. The application updates the client's posting periods and the period end dates for the affected existing transactions. Click Enter to save the updated client record.

If there are transactions dated for prior years, you will need to re-close all of the years by changing the period to the earliest year that has transactions. Choose Actions > Change Posting Period to change the posting period and bring the client forward to the current year.
