Approaching your license limit for Accounting CS Payroll

Accounting CS tracks the number of clients for whom you turned on the live payroll service, and counts it against the number of units for which your firm is licensed. When you are within 5 clients of the maximum you are licensed for, the application displays a message that says "Accounting CS Payroll is licensed for 5 more clients. Please contact an Account Representative at 1-800-968-8900 to increase your client limit."

When you reach the maximum limit, the application displays a message that says "Accounting CS Payroll has reached the XX client license limit. Please contact an Account Representative at 1-800-968-8900 to increase your client limit." and removes the live payroll option from the Add/Remove Services dialog.

Use one of the following methods to prevent these messages from being displayed.

Remove the live payroll service from after the fact/compliance clients

  1. Choose File > Print Reports.
  2. Select the Client List report from the Firm folder.
  3. In the Filtering and Sorting section, filter by Service > is > Payroll.
  4. To include inactive clients in the report, use the second line to filter by Status > is in the list > Active, Inactive.
  5. Choose Setup > Clients, and edit any clients for whom you no longer provide live payroll services.
  6. In the Services section, click the ellipsis button to open the Add/Remove Services dialog.
  7. Unmark the Payroll checkbox to remove the live payroll service for the client.

Purchase more license units

If there are no clients that you can remove the live payroll service from, contact our Sales team to purchase more payroll license units.
