The Report Designer includes standard and formatting toolbars that provide quick access to commonly used tasks and formatting options.
Standard toolbar
Button | Function |

Opens a new report in the design grid. | |
Opens the report that is currently selected in the Reports list frame. | |
Saves any changes you have made to the selected report. | |
Opens the Print Options dialog, where you can specify options for printing the selected report. | |
Opens the Print Options dialog, where you can specify options for previewing the selected report. | |
Reverts the last change made in the design grid to its previous state. | |
Reapplies the last action that was undone in the design grid. | |
Checks the spelling of the contents in the selected report. | |
Cuts the selected items from the design grid and places them in the clipboard. (Press CTRL+X to perform the same action.) | |
Copies the selected items from the design grid and places them in the clipboard. (Press CTRL+C to perform the same action.) | |
Pastes the selected items from the clipboard into the designated location in design grid. (Press CTRL+V to perform the same action.) | |
Deletes the selected items from the design grid. (Press the DELETE key to perform the same action.) | |
Opens a list of search results from the Help & How-To Center in your browser when you enter a search term and press ENTER. | |
Opens the main help topic for the Report Designer in the Help & How-To Center. Click the arrow next to the button to view a list of links to relevant Report Designer help articles. |
Formatting toolbar

Displays the font and font size for the items selected in the design grid. Click the arrow next to the buttons to select a different font and/or font size. | |
Toggles bolding on or off for the text items selected in the design grid. | |
Toggles italics on or off for the text items selected in the design grid. | |
Toggles regular text underline on or off for the text items selected in the design grid. | |
Toggles single accounting underlines on or off for items selected in the design grid. | |
Toggles double accounting underlines on and off for items selected in the design grid. | |
Applies the selected color to the text selected in the design grid. Click the arrow next to the button to select a different font color. | |
Left justifies the contents of the selected cells. | |
Center justifies the contents of the selected cells. | |
Right justifies the contents of the selected cells. | |
Merges the selected cells into a single cell and centers the text in the new, merged cell. | |
Decreases the indent for the contents of the selected cells. | |
Increases the indent for the contents of the selected cells. | |
Applies the default currency style formatting (two decimal places, fixed dollar sign, and comma 1000 separator) to the contents of the selected cells. | |
Applies the default percent style formatting (two decimal places and fixed percent sign) to the contents of the selected cells. | |
Applies the default comma style formatting (1000 separator) to the contents of the selected cells. | |
Moves the decimal point one place to the left for the selected amount. | |
Moves the decimal point one place to the right for the selected amount. | |
Fills the background of the selected cell with the selected color. Click the arrow next to the button to select a different color from the color selection grid. | |
Adds cell borders to the cells selected in the design grid. |
