For licensed users of Accounting CS Workpapers

If you are licensed for and have installed PPC's SMART Practice Aids with the Fieldwork module, you can add Accounting CS Workpapers reference links in a SMART Practice Aid's Planning form or Audit Program.

The following procedures assume that have already linked an existing Accounting CS Workpapers engagement binder to PPC's SMART Practice Aids. For details, see Linking engagements to PPC's SMART Practice Aids.

Adding a Accounting CS Workpapers workpaper reference link in a SMART Practice Aids Planning form

  1. In PPC's SMART Practice Aid's open the linked engagement and then open a Planning form.
  2. Right-click in the field to insert a Workpaper reference link and choose Insert Workpaper Reference.
  3. Click the Add Workpaper Reference button in the WP Refs tab of the Edit Text dialog to open the Insert Workpaper Reference dialog.
  4. Click the plus (+) sign next to Workpapers CS (Documents in the linked engagement not included in this SMART engagement) item in the tree.
  5. Select a workpaper from the linked engagement binder in Workpapers CS, and then click Select to insert the workpaper reference.
  6. Click the workpaper reference link to open a read-only copy of the workpaper in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or native PDF editor.

Adding a Workpapers CS workpaper reference link in a SMART Practice Aids Audit Program

  1. In PPC's SMART Practice Aid's open the linked engagement and then open an Audit Program.
  2. Right-click in the Workpaper Index column for a selected item to insert a Workpaper reference link and choose Insert Workpaper Reference.
  3. Click the Add Workpaper Reference button in the WP Refs tab of the Edit Text dialog to open the Insert Workpaper Reference dialog.
  4. Click the workpaper reference in the Workpaper Index column to open a read-only copy of the workpaper in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or native PDF editor.

    Note: To edit the workpaper, you must open the workpaper from within Workpapers CS.

Notes

  • To retain the workpaper reference link in the SMART engagement when you roll forward an engagement in Accounting CS Workpapers, be sure to select Include from the drop-down list in the Roll Forward Setting column of the Roll Foward Wizard to retain the workpaper reference link in the SMART engagement.
