Virtual Office CS and CBS ASP users:

The updated tax tables are provided for all CBS clients in Virtual Office and CBS ASP; however, the tax tables are not automatically imported. Each CBS client will need to use the File > Import > CBS Payroll tax data updates option in order to apply the tax table updates that were provided.

You may occasionally need to update the tax tables in CBS to reflect government changes to these tax tables. Depending on how your CBS software is configured, you may be able to update your tax tables in CBS using any of the following methods. To view a demonstration of the following methods, click here.

Import updated tax tables from an Accountant's Transfer File

  1. For information on how to create a transfer file, click here. Close all CBS windows and dialogs.
  2. Verify the file location specified in the Import from accountant field in the CBS Data Folders tab of the Utilities > Options dialog.
  3. Choose File > Import > Payroll tax data from your accountant.
  4. CBS will display a message prompt for each updated tax table asking if you would like to overwrite the existing tax table. Click the Yes button.

Important! If you are licensed to use CBS for more than one company, you must complete this import for each company processing PayCheck data. If you use the same configuration for all of your company data, you may use the same import data for all CBS company databases.

Import payroll tax updates

If you have the proper security rights to do so, you may import the updated tax tables via CBS Connect. Note that you will need to be on the latest cd release of CBS with all CBS Connect updates applied.   1. Close all CBS windows and dialogs.
  2. Choose File > Import > CBS Payroll tax data updates.
  3. CBS will display a message prompt asking if you would like to overwrite the existing tax tables. Click the Yes button.

Edit the tax tables

If you have the proper security rights to do so, you may edit federal, state, and local payroll tax data in CBS.

  1. Point to Setup > Tax Tables and then choose the tax table you wish to update (Federal, State, or Local).
  2. Make any necessary changes to the tax data.
  3. Click the Save button.
