Before retrieving your CBS client's exported data, you should back up the client data.

Make sure the GL and payroll periods are set to the appropriate dates relative to the client data you are about to retrieve.

To retrieve data transmitted via email

  1. Have your client export their CBS client data and send you the export disk via email message with the Export Files attached in an EXPORTDATA file.
  2. Save this EXPORTDATA file to the path specified in the Retrieve field of the Setup > File Locations dialog in Accountant's Assistant. See Specifying file locations for Generate and Retrieve procedures in Accountant's Assistant.

    Notes:

    • If your client is using CBS version 2006.2.x or earlier, you will receive an email message with the export files attached in a ZIP file rather than an EXPORTDATA file. To save the ZIP file, follow the same instructions outlined in step 1 above.
    • If you need help saving the attached EXPORTDATA file, please refer to the help topics or other documentation for your email application. We cannot actively support those applications.
  3. In Accountant's Assistant, choose Tasks > Retrieve. Accountant's Assistant automatically retrieves your client's export file from the specified location. The application will display a message after the information has been successfully retrieved, and then you may begin processing the data in Accountant's Assistant prior to transferring it to CSA.
