None of the information in the Security dialog is required, but we recommend entering as much information as possible to make the client setup easier.

To add a new CBS user

  1. Choose Setup > Security to open the Security dialog.
  2. Click the Add button. The cursor will automatically move to the User field.
  3. Enter a user name in the User field.
  4. Enter a password in the Password field.
  5. Click the tab of the CBS module for which you want to set security features. By default, all security items are not selected. (Only items in the Selected pane will be available for this user. )
  6. To move a security item to the Selected list, double-click it in the Available list.
  7. When you have selected all the security items for the selected user in all the appropriate tabs, click the Enter button to save the settings. The user will appear in the alphabetical User list at the top of the dialog.
  8. Repeat the process above for as many users as you need to add. When you are done adding users, click the Done button.

To edit information for an existing CBS user

  1. Select the user you want to edit from the User list and click the Edit button.
  2. Change the information that needs to be updated for the appropriate CBS modules by clicking the corresponding tab and editing the information on that tab. Only three of the default users (Administrator, User, and No One) can be changed. Note that any feature selected for No One will not be available to anyone in CBS, whether they have rights to the feature or not. It is recommended that you allow the Administrator to have rights to the Security feature in CBS and, in general, rights to more features than a typical user.

Note: The default user Accountant cannot be changed or deleted, and will have rights to every feature for all CBS client modules. However, you can change the password for the Accountant (the default password is CBS ACCT).

  3. When you're done, click the Enter button to save the changes you have made.
