When creating or modifying a layout, you will probably want to include several different data variables as part of that layout. To do that, you must insert them rather than merely type in their names.

Open the Insert Variable dialog by choosing Variable from the Insert menu (or by clicking the /_images/acct_pr/csa/leinsvar.gif button on the toolbar).

You must insert a variable, rather than type its name, to have the appropriate data appear on the check when you print it. Any information that you type on the check or form layout will appear on the printed check or form exactly as you have typed it.

Procedure

  1. From the Insert menu, choose Variable.
  2. In the Insert Variable dialog, choose the type of variable that you want to insert and then click the variable name to highlight it. Note that you can only select one variable at a time.
  3. Click the plus sign (+) to see additional variables within a group.
  4. Click the left mouse button at the position in the layout where you want to place the highlighted variable. If necessary, you can then select the variable and drag it to a new location.
  5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 as necessary and then click the Close button to dismiss the Insert Variable dialog.
