Chart of Accounts balances and employee earnings are not imported from Microsoft Office Accounting. Account balances are updated in CSA based on the transactions that are imported. You may need to enter beginning balances in CSA, especially if you do not import data from the beginning of the client's fiscal year. Employee earnings are updated based on the payroll checks that are imported from Microsoft Office Accounting.

  1. Before you begin to import and process information using Accountant's Assistant, you need to have a CSA client that is properly configured for the Microsoft Office Accounting client data you will be importing. For more information on creating a new client in CSA, see Setting up a client in CSA.
  2. In CSA, choose File > Client Properties. On the General Information tab, make sure the CBS Client checkbox is not marked.

Also, be sure to mark the General Ledger module checkbox in the Add > Remove Module(s) dialog that is accessible from the File > Company Properties dialog. It is recommended that you also mark the Payroll Compliance module checkbox in this dialog.

Note: If you will be importing payroll information from Microsoft Office Accounting, you must mark the Payroll Compliance module checkbox - but do not mark the Payroll CS checkbox. You must also set up a checkbook in CSA prior to importing data from Microsoft Office Accounting. Click here for more information on setting up a checkbook in CSA.

  3. Click the General Ledger tab and verify the information in this tab.
  4. Click OK.
