We strongly recommend that you routinely back up your global files. The global files contain many important items such as check layouts, payroll items, variables, and global financial statements, just to name a few.

Backing up your global files

  1. Choose File > Backup.
  2. Locate the drop down box in the top left hand corner and change it to System Data.
  3. Click on Select All, to backup the global files.
  4. Verify that the Backup location field specifies the correct path and folder. You should back up either to a network backup location or some type of removable media (USB drive/ Compact Disk). You should not choose another location your hard drive as the backup destination (except temporarily so that you can burn the backup to a CD outside of the CSA program). If you need to change the location, click the Change Backup Location button and browse to the proper drive and > or folder. If you are using removable media, make sure that the disk is already in the appropriate drive.
  5. Click the Backup button to begin the process.
  6. When the process is complete, click the Done button.

Restoring your global files from backups

The process is similar to restore global files.

  1. If you are restoring your system data from backups on removable media, be sure that the disk is in the appropriate drive.
  2. Choose File > Restore.
  3. Locate the drop down box in the top left hand corner and change it to System Data.
  4. Verify the backup location at the bottom of the screen is correct.
  • If the File(s) not Found dialog opens instead of the System Data Restore dialog, click the Change Backup Location button and browse to the appropriate drive or folder in which your system.zip backup filed is stored.
  1. Move the files you need to restore to the right side via the Select/Select All button(s).
  2. Click the Restore to begin the process.
  3. If the global file already exists, a confirmation prompt asks you to confirm that you want to overwrite the existing global file. Click Yes to continue.
  4. When the process is complete, click the Done button.
